Code of Conduct

Understand, appreciate and abide by the rules of the game and the honour system.
•  Respect the integrity and judgment of game officials and staff.
Respect your opponents and congratulate them in a courteous manner following each match, whether in victory or defeat.
Be responsible for your actions and maintain self-control.
Do not taunt or bait opponents. Refrain from using foul or abusive language.

Honour System
KSSC leagues are self-officiated unless otherwise stated, whenever possible a court monitor will be at games to resolve any disputes and help new teams learn the rules of the game.

The honour system is self-regulation of the rules. Opponents have the opportunity to rate teams based on how well they have called their own fouls. For example in dodgeball, when a player is hit by a ball, without the umpire?s knowledge, the player will call themselves ?OUT? and leave the court.

Sportsmanlike Conduct
KSSC promotes sportsmanship above all else and views it as an important part to any sporting event and will uphold its views with utmost importance. Please bring fun and enthusiasm to every game, win or lose, to help support KSSC in its beliefs and values.
Any teams that have a negative sportsmanship rating run the risk of not being invited to year end playoffs by the administrator to uphold the importance of Sportsmanship in the leagues.

Sportsmanlike Conduct may include but is not limited to:

•  Complimentary comments
•  Handshakes
•  Respect for the oppositions level of play
•  Respect of the honour system
•  Not retaliating in a negative manner to any situations or players
•  Bringing enthusiastic fans
•  Costumes
•  Banners

This behaviour will be awarded with points from opposing teams and the top team will be awarded at the Season Social along with the top place team in the standings. These points will also be used to break any ties at the end of the season.

Unsportsmanlike conduct may include but is not limited to:

Foul language
Unnecessary roughness
Arguing with officials, staff, participants, or fans
Abuse of the honour system
Making comments to instigate an altercation with another player or Court Monitor

Game officials may warn players and call a technical foul on those who display unsportsmanlike conduct. Any players receiving 2 technical fouls in a game will be ejected and suspended a minimum of one game. Suspensions will begin with their next scheduled game. Severe infractions or multiple technical fouls may result in suspensions from matches or tournaments. The penalty for technical fouls is at the discretion of court monitors.

Fighting
Fighting will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Depending on the infraction, a warning or expulsion with no refund will be given to the persons involved, no matter who was the instigator(s).

Feedback
All feedback, including complaints will be investigated within 48 hours by Kelowna Sport and Social Club (KSSC). The team captain of the player and/or team will receive feedback from KSSC in email form so that the message can be forwarded to the rest of the team. All teams have the opportunity to provide their own feedback through the team captain in response to the complaint. All complaints and replies are kept on file at KSSC in case of further infractions and/or complaints against the team/player. It is KSSC?s sole discretion to either: give a warning, penalty or league ejection.

NO REFUNDS are issued to players or teams ejected from the league.

Substitutes
All defaults should be prevented whenever possible. Teams pay to PLAY!!
KSSC can be contacted at any time for a list of substitutes wanting to play. If teams have their own substitutes, they can play at any time during regular play as long as they meet player requirements and sign a liability waiver. Players from another roster may also be used, but only to bring the team to the minimum number of players outlined in the game rules.
A sub may only play in playoffs if:

•  They participated in two games during the regular season in an 8 week season and 3 games in other circumstances.
•  It is the only way the team will not forfeit and will bring the team to the minimum number.

It is the responsibility of the team to ensure the sub is aware of all rules and policies.

Blood/Injury
In the case that a person is injured and there is blood present they must immediately leave play, bandage the injury and have no blood present before re-entering the game. Substitutions are allowed to enter at any time to permit the player to leave the play area so to not delay the game. Teams must have their own first aid equipment such as, bandages, tape, tensors and disinfectant. When a Court Monitor is present any aid required will be given.

Alcohol
Kelowna Sport and Social Club (KSSC) reserves the right to exclude intoxicated or disorderly persons from any portion of an event or trip without refund of money. Impairment of any sort can significantly alter perception and cause harm to yourself and/or others around you. KSSC strongly recommends not partaking in drinking or use of illegal substances before KSSC sanctioned events. Alcohol and drugs will not be tolerated in the facility used by KSSC and if a fine is given or privileges revoked due to this use, the player/team will receive the fine and be removed from the league with no refund.
